The director of Gangajal and Apaharan, Prakash Jha was born on 27 th Feb, 1952 in Bihar. His father is Tej Nath Jha and was sent to Kendriya Vidyalaya and studied in JJ School of Arts and a graduate from FTII. He was married to Dipti Naval and adopted a daughter. His first documentary was Under the Blues in 1975.He had received some international acclamations and award for his films Mrityudand, Lipstic Under My Burkha, Damul and many more. He had won national awards for Faces After the Storm, Parinati and many more. He is the chairman of an NGO named Anubhuti from 1991.
